BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Philips has been active in China for many decades and is dedicated to developing in China products and systems both for China and the world, a senior executive of the Dutch company told Xinhua during IFA 2019, the world's leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances.
"We recognize that China has its own ecosystem, so we need to be relevant to Chinese consumers," said Roy Jakobs, chief business leader for personal health businesses at Royal Philips.
"We are looking for active collaboration with our Chinese partners. We have our manufacturing there; meanwhile we also have our own scientists in China. So there is a whole ecosystem for China," Jakobs continued.
According to him, the ecosystem, which Philips has developed in China and for China, helps his company get very good learning. And what they have learned in China will later be possibly applied in other countries and regions.
"China is a very important market for us. Therefore, Philips also have a big presence and end-to-end value creation in China," Jakobs noted.
Philips highlighted this year at IFA a range of intelligent, adaptive and personalized consumer health solutions that integrate into people's lives and lifestyles, empowering them to make healthier choices and fulfilling their personal needs.
The 59th IFA opened in Berlin on Friday, with the latest products and innovations from the leading global brands, and will last until Sept. 11. Last year, goods worth a total of 4.7 billion euros (5.2 billion U.S. dollars) were sold at the fair.
Over 1,900 global exhibitors, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent, show on the exhibition ground of around 163,900 square meters. More than 700 Chinese exhibitors, including Huawei, TCL and Haier, have also taken part, according to the organizer.
