BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- A group of Thai youth entrepreneurs visited on Wednesday an innovation center under Chinese tech giant Baidu to learn about Baidu's technological achievements and applications in the field of artificial intelligent (AI) and discuss for cooperation in the future.
"It's an eye-opener to see so many AI technologies are applied in real-life situations," said Chaiwut, a senior executive at Anita Clinc in Thailand.
The Baidu innovation center is located in the Chang Yang Campus of Shanghai, which is an innovation industry park and incubation platform that provides various types of space experiences and services similar to the foreign university campus.
Meanwhile, the visitors have expressed their willingness to learn from such industrial model and build similar parks in Thailand, and they would consider starting a business here if there is an opportunity in the future.
Thailand has been seeking an in-depth connection with China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) since the country initiated some strategic strategies such as Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor.
As an important part under Thailand's developing strategies, the digital economy industry has broad market prospects, especially in the field of smart cities. For example, AI technologies have been broadly using in some senior nursing homes in Thailand.
China is taking the lead in the world in technological advantages such as the mobile Internet, 5G, AI as well as Internet of Things (IoT), according to Siriporn from the company of City Realty, adding that they hope to introduce those advanced technologies to Thailand and boost the country's economic and industrial development.
Cai Jiong, co-president of Baidu’s innovation center in Shanghai said that he would like to see more achievements in Thailand's smart construction in the future, and Baidu hopes to take part in it to jointly boost the development in such area.
It is noted that the visit was recommended by Xinhua Silk Road of China Economic Services (CEIS), a national comprehensive information service platform serving the Belt and Road construction under Xinhua News Agency. (Contributed by Li Xiaohui, Edited by Jiang Feifan)
