The income of German workers increased by 3 per cent in 2018 year-on-year, the German Labour Agency (BA) said in a report released Monday.
The average gross income of German workers in 2017 was 3,209 euros (3,600 dollars) per month, which increased to 3,304 euros by 2018.
Reasons for the increase are higher wages and an increase in the number of skilled workers who generally earn more, the report said.
The pay gap between men and women however persists, as German men on average earned 3,468 euros per month in 2018 and women only earned 3,014 euros.
The latest statistics also showed that higher education pays off, with employees who went to university earning 5,113 euros per month in 2018 on average. Employees who had no formal education only earned 2,461 euros.
