Thailand to convene meeting to promote economic growth in southern border provinces

Abstract : Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, deputy prime minister and commerce minister, will preside over the guideline meeting aiming at economic development in Southern Border Provinces (SBP), at Nom Klao conference room housed in the multi-function Administration Center in SBP on July 19-20, 2019.

InfoQuest (July 19, 2019) -Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, deputy prime minister and commerce minister, will preside over the guideline meeting aiming at economic development in Southern Border Provinces (SBP), at Nom Klao conference room housed in the multi-function Administration Center in SBP on July 19-20, 2019.

During the meeting, consultations on promoting economic development in the five SBP (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Satun and Songkhla) will be proceeded, with heads from the Southern Border Province Administration Center (SBPAC), and governors, heads from commercial agencies, as well as representatives from non-governmental chambers of commerce, industrial federations and banking associations in these provinces.

The meeting aims to solve the problems emerging in domestic and international trade at a strategic level, promote economic development in southern boarder provinces, and push forward the strategy to help Thailand's halal products enter the world market. Meanwhile, it hopes to boost border trade under Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand economic development cooperation framework, the ASEAN trade development framework and the world trade cooperation framework.
