BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- With the advancement of 5G, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies, China's television (TV) industry represented by ultra-high definition (UHD) smart TVs and laser TVs with large screen is expected to embark on a fast track of development and become a growth engine of consumption, according to experts.
Facing consumption upgrading of the TV industry in China, leading enterprises have launched their new products to seize business opportunities.
Honor, a sub-brand under the Chinese tech giant Huawei, announced yesterday that it planned to launch a new type of smart TV in August. The new Honor Smart Screen TVs will be a combination of smart TVs and Internet TVs, according to the company.
TCL, Sony, Samsung, Sharp and other brands have also unveiled their 8k UHD TVs so far this year.
Consumption in China's TV industry is increasing rapidly. For example, about 22 million units of color TVs were sold during January to June period, among which 70 percent were 4k UHD TVs. Sales of 4k UHD TVs is projected to exceed 80 percent of the total in 2019, and 60,000 units of 8k UHD TVs is estimated to be sold this year, according to a report recently released by China Electronics Chamber of Commerce.
