SHANGHAI, July 11 (Xinhua) -- An alliance to promote the innovation development of the shipping industry in Yangtze River Delta was established in Shanghai on Thursday.
The alliance aims to actively promote the integrative development of ports and the shipping industry in the Yangtze River Delta by establishing regional coordination mechanisms, leveraging the port-shipping linkage mechanism, and creating a quality business environment.
In 2018, the Yangtze River Delta region was home to five of the world's top 100 container ports. In terms of cargo volume, seven of the world's 10 largest ports were from China and all three ports are located in the Yangtze River Delta region, including Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Shanghai Port and Suzhou Port.
Experts said that it is an irresistible trend to promote the integration of ports and the shipping industry in the Yangtze River Delta region and the establishment of the alliance will be seen as an important step in pushing forward the development of the shipping industry in the Yangtze River Delta.
Besides, the alliance is committed to implementing the national strategies for regional innovation development, building a regional coordination mechanism and creating an information sharing platform, giving full play to the port-shipping linkage mechanism, and creating a quality business environment for orderly competition in the market.
