Fashion, a new partnership between China and Italy

Abstract : The partnership between the National Garment Association and Class Editori was signed at the Hangzhou fashion bilateral summit. The two countries foresee highly potential synergies. 

MILAN, June 28 (Class Editori) – Innovation linkage for a shared future. China-Italy Fashion Summit 2019 in Hangzhou, the city of Alibaba, has transformed the strategies and new alliances between the fashion chains of the two countries and strengthened relations. The last Summit – which had similar targets, but in a completely different context – was held in Milan in 2011.

As in 2011, the Summit was promoted by the China National Garment Association, chaired by Chen Dapeng, an old friend of Italy, but also by the China National Textile and Apparel council, chaired by Sun Ruizhe, together with the China Fashion Association, the People's Government of Yuhang District and Hangzhou. Italy was present with Confindustria Moda, Camera Buyer Italy and Class Editori, which had already been co-organizer of the 2011 summit.

The focus was on the changes in the fashion industry, the digitalization, and the improvement and mutual understanding to explore future cooperation between the two countries.

The level of technology reached by some Chinese companies was clear since the visit, before the summit, to the E-Fashion Town, a realization of atelier and related services, surrounded by greenery and ponds, costing 1 million euros. Projected on three screens – in real time, taking advantage of the data science – is everything that happens in the 1,700 stores of the Eifini Group: how many clothes are tried on, how many are then purchased and therefore indications if models need changes; on another screen, the trend of turnover in real time and other infinite essential data about customers.

At the opening of the summit chairman Sun said: "The life of the country depends on the victory of businesses and therefore on the degree of well-being of people's lives". Pointing out: "The ultimate purpose of all the high walls is to become tourist attractions", to emphasize the importance of dialogue to strengthen the growth of these two countries.

Francesco Fiordelli, the organizer-trustee of China National Garment added: "I am satisfied with this summit, which is truly more important than all the relationships between the two sectors I have been dealing with for years. The agreement between China National Garment Association and China Textile Apparel with Confindustria Moda that was signed will bring great support to sectors in strong growth in China, which in addition to fashion concern jewelery, eyewear and furs. Strategically, at the end of October, the three chairmans of the industrial associations of Italy and China – Claudio Marenzi, Sun and Chen – will meet to agree on important strategies in the various sectors of which Confindustria fashion is now a leader.

Together with the signing of this agreement by Chen Dapeng and Riccardo Braccialini – delegate of Marenzi in this circumstance and also satisfied with the results – a wide-ranging agreement was also signed between China National Garment Association (Chen Dapeng) and Class Editori (Paolo Panerai). In his speech, Panerai highlighted 6 points on which the collaboration between China and Italy could be developed.

To this end, it is no minor matter that the summit took place in the city of Alibaba, which with its e-commerce Tmall is the reference for the development of digital commerce. However, tecnology was at the center of the summit and enabled the fashion 4.0, with the personalized packaging of the company.

Francesco Tombolini, chairman of Camera Buyer, has rebalanced the whole focus on big data, claiming the fundamental role for shopping in the beautiful stores of the association: almost 3 billion euros, he talked about the consumption experience in the digital era and after the summit has specified that "this initiative born from the mutual knowledge and the ability to create a business, planning it together. I really enjoyed this summit, I go back to Italy with many ideas and new visions to jointly realize Italy-China platforms. Shops as well are beautiful, with billions in turnover. And then every person has its own identity who can't always buy relying only on machines".
