BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) is an example of global media cooperation powered by modern technology, Marat Abulkhatin, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of TASS Russian News Agency (TASS) said here Thursday at the inaugural meeting of the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) .
BREIP is initiated by Xinhua News Agency and co-founded by international news agencies, information service agencies, research institutions, chambers of commerce and associations from Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Oceania. It is designed to eliminate information asymmetry in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), offer demonstration, guidance and services to participants of BRI, and create a new platform for international cooperation.
BRI has become a focus of international economic integration, said Marat, noting that for Russia, it is extremely important to promote the synergy between the Eurasian Economic Union and the BRI, as it involves not only the land transport infrastructure in Eurasia, but also marine transport.
The First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of TASS pointed out that media need to expand cooperation and jointly provide reliable and objective political, economic as well as cultural information for implementing projects under the framework of BRI and Eurasian Economic Union.
TASS has been actively reporting important events in China since 1922. The Russia-based news agency has partnered with many Chinese news agencies and information providers, such as Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, and China Daily.
Marat stated that the cooperation between TASS and its Chinese partners has got more and more involved in modern technology, the Internet, and social media.
"BREIP is an example of such cooperation," said Marat.
Partnership under the framework of BRI would help integrate resources and strengthen interconnection between participants, said Marat, adding that he is looking forward to the productive outcomes of BREIP. (Edited by Su Dan)
