InfoQuest, (June 14, 2019) -- Mr. Siri Chiraphongphan, minister of energy of Thailand, revealed that as two tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman on June 13, the Ministry of Energy has stepped up efforts to cope with a likely price fluctuation in global crude oil. It has checked the domestic stockpile of oil and conducted drills to respond to the similar crude oil shortage situation, aiming to ensure the country has abundant stockpile to meet domestic consumption. It has also introduced relevant measures to monitor and manage oil storage to minimize the impact on consumers.
Currently, the oil stockpile can meet the consumption need for 50 days. Among the storage is 2.95806 billion liters of crude oil, which is enough for 24 days’ use. And the crude oil in the pipeline is 1.59123 billion liters which is enough for 13-day consumption. The refined oil products stand at 1.54953 billion liters and can be used for 13 days. If this category turns into gasoline, diesel or aircraft fuel, it can satisfy the use for 12 days, 13 days and 16 days respectively.
With regard to the crude oil and condensate oil produced at home, they can meet 35 percent of the total consumption. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for household consumption can be used for 20 days. And the natural gas separation plants operated by the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) are able to support household consumption, thus ensuring an uninterruptible supply.
