BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Municipality has completed the construction of 4,300 5G base stations by the end of May, out of total 4,983 stations contracted by telecom operators in the city, according to local authorities.
These stations currently cover the core downtown area of the city, the site of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Game, the site of the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, Beijing Daxing International Airport and typical 5G applications.
At the end of April, the government of Beijing Municipality issued a work plan on accelerating the construction of 5G infrastructure, which proposes a series of measures, including increasing light poles in the city the function of 5G base stations.
