InfoQuest (June 07, 2019) -- Mr. Thongchai Chawalitpichaet, Director General of the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) under Ministry of Industry of Thailand, delivers an opening speech at the seminar "Factory 4.0 Ushers in the Future of Thai Industry". In his special speech entitled "Related Policies Driving Thailand into the Era of Industry 4.0", he expounds that based on the Thailand 4.0 strategy, the Ministry of Industry of Thailand attaches great importance to promoting Thai industrial development, effectively developing Thailand into a stable, prosperous and sustainable country, and escaping the middle income trap, income gap trap and unbalanced development trap.
There are three guidelines on promoting the development of Thailand's Industry 4.0. The first oneis to develop an innovation-driven mechanism to enhance production efficiency and transform Thailand from a middle-income country to a high-income one. Measures include promoting the upgrading of industrial structures and cooperation in10 target industries in Thailand, deepening their business cooperation according to the Thailand 4.0 strategy, formulating investment cooperation plans for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), and supporting innovation and technological development to create economic value added and build platforms for disseminating information to related industrial sectors.
The second one is to develop a driving mechanism that enables most people to participate equally and fully, aiming at fair income distribution and equal opportunities. Measures include building economic clusters, creating abusiness-friendly environment, and supporting SMEs in order to increase their competitiveness globally, cultivate skilled and knowledgeable workers to cope with changes in the future.
Support for SMEs includes promoting the "Bigbrother" project, which means that large private companies will pass on various knowledge as a "big brother", supporting start-ups to improve the foundation of private economy, and implementing the creative industrial village project to create new value for tourism services and souvenirs.The goal is to increase the number of creative industrial villages from 9 in 2017 to 76 in five years.
The third guideline is to accelerate the development of environmentally-friendly and sustainable development-driven mechanisms through measures such as promoting development plans for the green industry.The aim is to facilitate sustainable growth of industry and its harmonious relations with the community,enhance CSR, and promote circular economy development by reduction of waste and efficient usage of resources.
"The Ministry of Industry of Thailand has set forth the vision of Industry 4.0 reform to increase the Thai industrial economy by at least 4.5 percent in 2021 and has formulated four strategic plans: developing and expanding the industrial sector, creating an investment- and industry-friendly environment, promoting environmentally and socially friendly industries and enhancing the comprehensive capabilities of enterprises to provide high-quality services," said Mr. Thongchai.
Mr. Supakit Bunsiri, Deputy Director General of DIW, delivers a special speech on "SMART DIW". He focuses on accelerating the reform of DIWin compliance with the 2019 DIW's Regulations (Second Edition). DIW will drive factories into Factory 4.0 with maximum efficiency to meet the needs of the digital industry and prepare plant operators from various aspects. Measures include increasing production by enhancing energy and resource efficiency, minimizing or preventing all kinds of waste and pollution, emphasizing safe production to turn factories into Smart Factory, promoting the upgrading of SMEs through the future industrial reform center mechanism, facilitating environmentally friendly industries, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
