China releases action plan to promote green transport

June 03, 2019

Abstract : China's Ministry of Transport has recently released an action plan to promote the development of green transport system in the country.

BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Transport has recently released an action plan to promote the development of green transport system in the country.

The four-year action plan (2019-2022) lays out the target of initially building a reasonable, eco-friendly, and efficient low-carbon transport system by 2022.

The plan proposes to accelerate the construction of charging infrastructure by setting up more charging facilities, especially at urban public transportation hubs, parking lots, and the first and last stations. It also says to gradually shift the subsidies for NEV purchases to the construction and operation of charging infrastructure, and implement favorable policies for charging fee reduction.

Another priority of the plan is to promote large-scale application of new energy vehicles (NEV), to cover buses, taxis, short-distance coach buses, tourist buses, airport shuttle buses, government vehicles, etc. At the same time, the NEV application will be subsided, and high-emission vehicles be eliminated.
