SAN SALVADOR, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Bilateral relations between China and El Salvador have achieved progress, and the relations benefit both countries, experts from both countries have said recently at a conference here.
The relationship allows China and El Salvador to establish a strategic link of academic cooperation, opening the possibility for teacher and student exchanges and training, said Vicente Cuchillas, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of El Salvador, on Thursday at a conference on China-El Salvador relations.
Speaking to an audience of more than 300 students, academics and government officials, Cuchillas said respectful cooperation is the formula for a promising future, adding that both peoples have rich cultures.
For Salvadoran economist Douglas Cruz, the relationship with China offers El Salvador the opportunity to develop its industry and increase its variety of exports, expanding beyond raw materials.
Speaking at the conference, Gong Jianzhong, vice president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, said both countries should aim for "long-lasting exchanges in the future, so that our journey is long and stable."
Gong also said that the two countries share things in common, as they are both nations of workers, and they both maintain a position of respect and equality in their relations with other countries.
