BEIRUT, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Minister of State for Information Technology Adel Afiouni announced on Friday that China's Tsinghua Holdings is interested in helping the Lebanese government in its digital transformation project.
"Tsinghua Holdings expressed great interest in helping us in digital technology transformation. They have expertise in the area since they did a lot of similar projects for governments around the world," Afiouni told Xinhua.
His remarks came during the visit by a delegation from Tsinghua Holdings to Lebanon to discuss ways to boost cooperation.
Afiouni said that he discussed with the delegation the potential of creating a research and development center given the talents available in universities in Lebanon.
"Our aim is to attract Lebanese research centers to support the capabilities of our youths," he said, adding that discussions with the Chinese company were very positive.
