BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- An automatic production line of hydrogen-powered cells invested by Dong Fang Electric Corporation Limited (DEC) (600875. SH) has recently gone into operation in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to DEC's filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
It is the first of its kind operating in the western areas of China. The operation of the production line marks the production of hydrogen cells in Sichuan shifts from small scale, handmade to mass and automatic production.
The production line has an annual production capacity of 1,000 engines powered by hydrogen cells, which are mainly used in new energy vehicles, according to DEC.
DEC started developing hydrogen cells in 2010. It has mastered core technologies in the past few years.
Currently, vehicles equiped with hydrogen fuel cell engine could achieve an endurance ability of over 500 kilometers, with a recharging time of three to five minutes every time. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
