MANILA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Philippine ruling PDP-Laban party have expressed their willingness to enhance their cooperation and achieve "even better" relations between the two countries.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, also chairman of the PDP-Laban party, said in his meeting with Song Tao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, on Wednesday that he was satisfied with the current bilateral relations.

"The Philippines and China are good partners and the cooperation in various fields has yielded remarkable results, and I am happy with that," he said, adding that the Philippines is willing to increase the exchanges between the two parties and promote regional peace and prosperity.

For his part, Song said the CPC was willing to implement the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries with its Philippine counterpart to boost the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, push forward the bilateral relations and safeguard regional peace and prosperity.

Song also met with Vicente Sotto III, president of the Senate, during his three-day visit to the Philippines.
