BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019 officially kicked off on Tuesday in Boao, a town in South China's island province of Hainan.
This year's Annual Conference, themed "Shared Future, Concerted Action, Common Development", will last till March 29.
Around the theme, the conference is formatted under five modules, namely "open world economy", "multilateralism, regional cooperation and global governance", "innovation-driven development", "high-quality development" and "critical issues".
These modules aim at addressing challenges facing globalization, multilateralism and regional cooperation, building consensus on global governance, identifying the best path for Asian and global economic growth, and solving major issues in various sectors of the global economy to promote healthy and sustainable economic growth, noted Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia Li Baodong when addressing the Press Conference on the BFA Annual Conference 2019.
The five modules are composed of over 50 sessions, some of which focus on economic and development issues of common interest, such as world economic outlook, global governance, the Belt and Road Initiative, WTO reform, free trade zones and free ports, as well as future rural Asia and cities.
Topics like artificial intelligence, 5G, health and ageing around the five new areas covered by the BFA, which are technology innovation, health, education, culture and media, will also be discussed.
More than 2,000 participants from 60 countries and regions attended the conference, including state leaders, ministerial- and higher-level officials and former political leaders from various countries, nearly 100 executives from Fortune 500 and famed companies, more than 1,000 business leaders and many experts and academics.
