ZHENGZHOU, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Xinxiang city in central China's Henan Province is expected to resume the Xinxiang-Japan-ROK railway-seaway freight service in early April this year, gradually achieving the frequency of one trip a week.
Xinxiang-Japan-ROK railway-seaway freight service first launched on December 28, 2018, is the second international freight train line opened by Xinxiang, after the launch of the China-Europe freight train service from Xinxiang to other European cities on March 28, 2018.
It is reported that the Xinxiang-Japan-ROK railway-seaway freight service will likely make 100 trips annually, with about 160,000 metric tons (tonnes) of goods transported.
The freight trains will mainly transport aluminum hydroxide, tires, chemical fibers, auto parts, chemicals and other products.
Departing from the Xigong District of Xinxiang city, the freight train transports the goods to Huangdao Port of east China's Qingdao city, before shipping them to major ports including Kobe, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan, and Busan, Incheon and Pyeongtaek in Republic of Korea (ROK).
The launch of the Xinxiang-Japan-ROK railway-seaway freight service can help Xinxiang deeply participate in the Belt and Road through the "Maritime Silk Road" and prompt enterprises in Xinxiang and even Henan to go global and attract foreign investment.
It is said that the freight service will also help the large enterprises surrounding Xinxiang to reduce logistics links, optimize the logistics environment in Xinxiang and surrounding areas, and promote the optimization and upgrading of the local industrial structure.
