NANJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Austrian food company Agrana said that the construction of its new production site in east China's Jiangsu Province has been completed.
With an investment of 31.3 million euros, the new fruit preparation plant is located in the National High-Tech District in the city of Changzhou.
Construction was completed on Monday, and it will manufacture fruit jam, fruit juice concentrate, vegetable products and sauce, starting this year.
The facility will work with well-known domestic and overseas firms including Danone and Mengniu Dairy.
The new plant is a strategic move to help the company capture more markets in Asia, said the plant manager Anne Marie Rouault.
The company has already had two factories in China, located in nothern Hebei Province and northwestern Shaanxi Province, respectively.
"Changzhou is confident in providing the best business environment and support for Agrana in China," said Zhou Bin, a senior official of the High-Tech District.
Agrana is the first European food processing firm to settle in Changzhou National Hi-Tech District, which has attracted over 1,700 overseas enterprises from 68 countries and regions, including 33 Fortune Global 500 firms.
