BEIJING -- CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), one of China's biggest train makers said on June 5 that CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd. and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) had signed a contract to sell 56 diesel-fueled locomotives to Kenya's railway project on May 30.
According to the contract, CRRC Qishuyan should deliver the diesel locomotives before the end of May, 2017, which includes 43 model DF8 diesel locomotives, five model DF11 and eight model DF7G diesel locomotives.
A report of the People's Daily on June 6 that it is the first railway in Kenya that is built by China's standards, technology, capital equipment, and also undertaken by Chinese bridge building company. The railway will start operation in 2017.
Last June, the CRBC initiated a competitive bidding for the 56 diesel engines for the project. After the bidding process and accepted by the client from Kenya, CRRC Qishuyan received the bid-winning notice on May 20, 2016.
