Tongwei Solar (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. on February 18 inaugurated construction of a 4GW high-efficiency crystalline cell project in Shuangliu District in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
The 4GW high-efficiency crystalline cell project is co-developed by Tongwei Solar (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. and Shuangliu District Government with a total investment of 5 billion yuan. The project will build a digital workshop and a smart plant, and initiate pilot operation of unmanned automatic production line.
Before this project, Tongwei Solar and Shuangliu District Government cooperatively developed a 1GW high-efficiency crystalline cell project and a 2GW high-efficiency crystalline cell project. The 1GW crystalline cell project has been operational, and the 2GW crystalline cell project is expected to enter operation in 2017.
Upon operation of these projects, Shuangliu cell base is expected to create annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan, making Shaungliu the world’s largest smart and digital crystalline cell production base.
