BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Sales growth for China's major excavator producers saw notable growth in February, adding to evidence that economic activity remains resilient.
The country's 25 leading excavator makers sold 18,745 units last month, up 68.7 percent from the previous year, compared with a 10-percent increase in January, according to the China Construction Machinery Association.
In breakdown, 17,286 excavators were sold in the domestic market, up 77.7 percent year on year. Exports of the equipment edged up 5.19 percent to 1,459 units.
A total of 30,501 excavators were sold in the first two months this year, a 39.9-percent year-on-year growth.
Sales of digging machines are an indicator of the vitality of an economy as demand is usually backed by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
China sold a total of 203,420 excavators in 2018, surging 45 percent year on year, the association said.
