A network of five technology centres in the German state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania has called on start-ups and young entrepreneurs to participate in the Inno Award 2019 innovation competition.
The prize, endowed with a total of 18,000 euros (20,400 dollars), has been awarded since 2013 for outstanding scientific and entrepreneurial achievements.
The benefactors want the award to enhance start-up opportunities in north-eastern Germany and publicize them beyond the state's borders.
In addition to start-ups and young entrepreneurs, school and university students with a desire to set up a business can compete with creative projects, the network's deputy chairwoman, Petra Ludwig, said on Monday.
The nationally advertised prize also invites creative minds from other German regions to get involved in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.
The technology centres are located in Greifswald, Schwerin/Wismar, Warnemuende, and in Roggentin and Bentwisch in the greater Rostock area. They are said to have supported more than 2,000 companies and created more than 10,000 jobs in recent years.
