BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tianjin Binhai New Area, a national-level comprehensive reform and innovation zone in the eastern coastal area of north China's Tianjin, intends to accelerate the pace of building itself into an international shipping center in northern China in 2019, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News on Tuesday quoting Tianjin Daily.
According to Tianjin Daily, specific measures will include smart port construction, clearance time and compliance cost reduction, function improvement, sea-rail combined transport system optimization and aggregation of high-end shipping elements such as shipping financing and insurance, etc.
It is reported that Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd., the largest port operator of Tianjin Port, will develop its container service vigorously and expand import business in 2019, aiming at achieving a transit capacity of 1.3 million standard containers around the Bohai rim and a sea-rail combined transport volume of 550,000 standard containers.
Besides, the company will endeavor to promote cooperation with surrounding ports and advance overseas cooperation.
As a gateway of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and Xiongan New Area, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone will strive to build Dagukou port area into a comprehensive port area of 100 million metric tons (tonnes).
In 2018, Dagukou port area has completed a throughput of 28.05 million tonnes. In 2019, a comprehensive bonded zone covering about 11 square kilometers and 12 100,000-tonne and 150,000-tonne multipurpose berths will be built in Dagukou port area, which may make the throughput of the port area hit 100 million tonnes.
Development plans regarding Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone and Tianjin Port will also make a contribution to the construction of the international shipping center. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
