BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment and eight other authoritative departments recently released an action plan to prevent and control pollution from used lead acid batteries (LABs).
Lead acid battery producers are required to carry out the producer responsibility extension system so as to ensure the collection rate of waste LABs to reach 40 percent by 2020 and further to 70 percent by 2025, according to the action plan.
China will advance the green development of LAB production industry, and give full play to the leading role of LAB production companies and lead recycling enterprises to set up standard recycling system, according to the action plan.
China will also crack down on illegal collection and disposal of used LABs, the action plan said. (Edited by Su Dan, Niu Huizhe)
