BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- German specialty glass maker SCHOTT is upbeat about the Chinese market's growth prospects thanks to an increasing demand for high-quality drug packaging products.
SCHOTT achieved a record growth in China in the last fiscal year, with sales reaching 189.8 million euros, up 11.1 percent year on year, according to a statement from the company.
China is currently the third largest sales market for SCHOTT and is expected to become the biggest by 2020. The company plans to boost investment in China in the new financial year, the statement said.
SCHOTT is building a new plant in Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province to serve the Chinese market. The new plant is scheduled to start production in 2020 with total investment in the coming years to exceed 100 million yuan (about 148,177 U.S. dollars).
