BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) --- China's shipbuilding capacity utilization efficiency is expected to maintain a stable trend in 2019, predicted China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) on the basis of the monitoring data in 2018.
The stable growth trend may be attributed to the recovery of global shipping market and the new shipbuilding orders due to the dismantling of old ships.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, CCI, a monitoring index which indicates China's shipbuilding capacity utilization efficiency, was 607 points, an increase of 6 points compared with the third quarter.
Specifically, in the fourth quarter, China's major state-owned shipbuilders gained an increasing number of new ship orders, with operating income and operating profit rising simultaneously, signaling the improvement in the capacity utilization.
