BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports via North China's Tianjin Port reached a new high of 3.35 million tonnes in 2018, a sharp rise of 74.62 percent year on year, according to statistics released by Tianjin customs on Monday.
The cargoes were valued at 1.87 billion U.S. dollars, which skyrocketed 134.64 percent year on year, showed customs data.
Main supplying sources included Australia, the U.S., Qatar and another 11 countries, seven more than the previous year.
The LNG import provided strong support for environmental protection and clean energy development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The 2019 LNG imports through Tianjin customs are expected to maintain growth due to wider use of clean energies. (Edited by Wu Shuang, wushuang2018@xinhua.org)
