BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) – Qinyuan, a county located in North China's Shanxi Province and a well-known red model in fighting against the aggressors during the anti-Japanese war, has quickened development of its green ecological resource, so as to promote economic transformation toward green development.
Lian Shubin, head of Qinyuan county, said at a seminar recently the county has been endeavoring to achieve green development in the “red land” and turn ecological advantages into development advantages since 2018.
With a forest area of 2.2 million mu (around 362,421 acres), the county boasts the largest forest coverage rate in Shanxi which is 56.7 percent, providing a good ecological environment foundation.
Besides, Qinyuan has been actively developing the red tourism and fostering the green health industry in recent years, striving to build it into a well-known mountain town with distinguishing features.
As of the end of 2018, tourism, a strategic pillar industry in the county, had brought 3.64 billion yuan of revenue, an increase of 30.4 percent year on year.
According to Lian, the whole county's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018 amounted to 11 billion yuan and the per capita disposable income of its rural residents reached 14,818 yuan, all hitting a record high. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
