KUNMING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army on Thursday launched an emergency landmine-sweeping mission along the border of China and Myanmar, in the city of Mangshi in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The region where the mission takes place has high mountains and steep slopes, deep valleys and lush forests, the command said. To ensure success for such a challenging task, the squad was made up of people with extensive de-mining training and experience.
The 300 officers and soldiers recently completed a landmine-sweeping mission in the Yunnan section of the Sino-Vietnam border.
