BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- China's leading information and communication technology (ICT) provider Huawei Technologies Co. announced that it has delivered some 100,000 5G base stations, according to the Xinhua-run cs.com.cn.
The company has won more than 25 commercial 5G contracts, taking a leading position globally, Huawei announced.
It is noted that 5G network technology consists two stages of R15 and R16, and Huawei is China’s first ICT provider to complete the Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) functional test based on R15 international standard based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), according China’s 5G promotion group.
SA refers to the establishment of an independent network, including a new base station, back haul link and core network, while NSA is the deployment of 5G network by using the existing 4G network infrastructure.
The year of 2019 will be the first year of commercial trial use of 5G technology in China, and China is expected to open about 100,000 new 5G base stations in 2019. (Edited by Jiang Feifa, Niu Huizhe)
