BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region plans to extend railway lines to 5,500 kilometers and high-speed rail tracks to 2,000 kilometers by 2020, reported the Xinhua-run cnstock.com.
The goals were set in the 13th five-year plan for railway development in Guangxi recently revised by the region’s development and reform commission.
Guangxi’s double-tracked lines and electrified tracks are expected to account for 56 percent and 63 percent respectively of the total length by 2020, with rail line length for per ten thousand square kilometers standing at 233 kilometers, according to the plan.
A high-speed railway network will be built to connect almost all cities of Guangxi, the plan said. (Edited by Su Dan, Niu Huizhe)
