MACAO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Both of the new approvals of residential mortgage loans and commercial real estate loans decreased in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in October this year, the Monetary Authority of Macao said on Tuesday.
In October 2018, new approvals of residential mortgage loans by Macao banks dropped by 65.2 percent from a relatively high base in the previous month to 3.4 billion patacas. The new approvals of commercial real estate loans dropped by 4.8 percent month to month to 3.2 billion patacas.
As at the end of October 2018, the outstanding value of new approvals of residential mortgage loans was 212.0 billion patacas, up by 0.4 percent from a month earlier, or 12.4 percent from a year ago. The outstanding value of new approvals of commercial real estate loans was 186.6 billion patacas, down by 0.3 percent month-to-month but up by 5.9 percent from a year earlier.
At the end of October 2018, the delinquency ratio for new approvals of commercial real estate loans was 0.16 percent, down by 0.01 percentage point from the preceding month or 0.02 percentage points over a year earlier.
The ratio for new approvals of commercial real estate loans was 0.16 percent, unchanged from a month ago and from end-October 2017. (One U.S. dollar equals to 8.07 patacas)
