BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Department of Natural Resources of north China's Shanxi province recently offered exploration rights on two coalbed methane (CBM) blocks for bidding, with block area totaling 393.85 square kilometers.
This is the first public tender offered by the department this year with the Yushe county-Wuxiang county block and Wuxiang county east block being 246.77 square kilometers and 147.08 square kilometers, respectively, reported Economic Information Daily.
The exploration license will be valid for three years and three months with the final three months being assessment period.
This bidding announcement requires no less than 30,000 yuan/year exploration investment for the bidding blocks.
Rich in coal and CBM resources, Shanxi had accumulated proven CBM geological reserves of 578.401 billion cubic meters as of end of 2015, accounting for 88 percent in the country’s total. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
