UNMING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Finals of the 11th national 3D innovation design competition kicked off Friday in the city of Yuxi, southwest China's Yunnan Province.
During the two-day event, more than 2,000 competitors from 600 teams will compete for 13 titles in high-tech areas such as digital industrial design, artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D printing, according to the organizing committee.
"Intelligent snow sweepers, wheelchairs capable of climbing stairs and foldable child car seats were just a few of the mind-blowing digital designs that show the infinite possibilities of our future," said Li Linfa, a competitor from Yichun University.
Li designed an intelligent farming robot. "It can water and fertilize the field while walking freely, improving work efficiency and reducing labor intensity," Li said.
"Innovation designs could represent the direction of future development in which technology could play a vital role," Li said.
Since 2008, the national 3D innovation design competition has been a yearly event to promote innovative development and the digital economy across the country, according to Wu Zezhong, honorary director of the organizing committee.
"Digitalization is a strategic choice for China's transformation from high-speed growth to high-quality development," Wu said.
Launched in February, this year's competition has drawn over seven million participants from more than 600 colleges and 1,000 companies.
