CRRC-undertaken largest single heavy oil power plant in Bangladesh starts operation
-- After 100-hour continuous operation test with over 16 million kilowatt-hours of power
generated, the largest single heavy oil power plant in Bangladesh was successfully put into
operation recently, according to China's state-owned CRRC Co., Ltd. Located in Bangladesh's Ashugonj region, 90 kilometers from Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, the 150-MW power plant was undertaken by CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd., a branch of CRRC. The construction of the project started on October 31, 2017, with the installation of all units and their auxiliary systems and the 230-kV complete electrical system finished on November 18, 2018. It started power generation on November 21, 2018.
Fence built along China-Laos railway to protect wild elephants -- Builders are establishing a fence along a newly completed section of a railway to connect China with Laos in efforts to protect wild elephants. China Railway's Kunming bureau said on Dec. 3 that the fence will be extended to 36 km long in valley areas, where a tunnel group on the railway was completed on Nov. 30 in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Zheng Xiancan, a project manager with the bureau said the project planning has taken into consideration avoiding a migration pass of wild elephants. The fence is built with light and sound resistant technology to further reduce the railway's disturbance to wild animals. The China-Laos railway is expected to open by the end of 2021. It will slash the travel time between Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan, and Vientiane to half a day.
China, Nepal agree to complete ongoing bilateral projects in a timely manner -- Officials from Nepal and China on Dec. 3 agreed to complete ongoing bilateral economic and development cooperation projects in a timely manner. The consensus was reached during the first meeting of 'Mechanism for Facilitation on the Implementation of China-Nepal Cooperation Programs and Projects in Nepal' held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu. The meeting dwelled on the progress made on the China-supported several ongoing projects in Nepal, including Pokhara International Airport, Koteshwor-Kalanki section of Ring Road, reconstruction of Bashantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu and schools in different parts of the country, among others.
Construction starts on railway station in China's "city of the future" -- The construction of Xiongan railway station was started Saturday with a goal to optimize China's high-speed railway networks covering Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, according to sources from the China Railway. With a construction period of 24 months, the station is the biggest one among the five stations along the 92.4-km-long intercity railroad linking Beijing and Xiongan. The other four stations are Huangcun, new airport, Gu'an East and Bazhou North. Upon its completion by the end of 2020, the station will be connected with the country's five high-speed railways and intercity railroads, which will allow passengers from Xiongan New Area to get to Beijing, Tianjin in half an hour and Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province, in one hour.
China-aided power generation stations put into operation in Kazakhstan -- Two China-aided power generation stations aimed to promote the use of clean energy in Kazakhstan were officially handed over to relevant parties of Kazakhstan on Nov. 30. The two power generation stations, a 1-MW solar power generation station and a 5-MW wind power generation station, were undertaken by CITIC Construction Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China's state-owned CITIC Group. Construction on the projects started on December 2017. They were finished and put into service, in advance, in November 2018.
Chinese firm-invested BOT power plant starts to be put into full operation in Vietnam -- With the test of two 600,000-kilowatt supercritical coal-fired thermal power units finished, the Chinese enterprise-invested phase-1 BOT (build-operate-transfer) coal-fired power plant project in Vinh Tan, a town of south Vietnam's Binh Thuan Province, started to be put into full commercial operation on Nov. 27. The project was funded by BOT mode, with China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG), China Power International Holding Ltd. (CPIH) and a Vietnamese power company each taking up 55 percent, 40 percent and 5 percent of the total investment which is expected to be 1.755 billion U.S. dollars. The two units will generate about 8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, which will effectively ease the power shortage in south Vietnam and fuel the country's economic development.
China's largest condensate gas field sees daily processing capacity rise to 20 mln cubic meters -- China's largest condensate gas field, Dina-2 gas field, had seen its daily gas processing capacity reach 20 million cubic meters after its expansion project was rolled out on Dec. 2. With a designed capacity of handling 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, Dina-2 gas field is located in Kuche County and Luntai County in the south of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. After the completion of the expansion project, Dina-2 oil and gas field saw its daily natural gas processing capacity increase by 4 million cubic meters to 20 million cubic meters, which had effectively enhanced its gas supply ability.
Chinese company to build alumina production line in Guinea -- Chinese aluminum producer Xinjiang Joinworld (600888.SH) will invest 831 million U.S. dollars to build an alumina production line in Guinea, with an annual alumina output of 1 million metric tons (tonnes), announced the company on Dec. 3. Of the total investment, the project capital is 240 million U.S. dollars, which will come from the company's own funds and strategic investment, and the rest will be raised through bank loans and financial leasing. According to the announcement, the production line will be sited in an industrial park in Cap Verga of Boffa, about 60 kilometers from Kamsar Port and approximately 140 kilometers from Conakry, Guinea's capital. Its construction period is 2.5 years, and its operation period is 27 years.
Chinese wheel manufacturer to set up production base in Thailand -- Zhejiang Jinfei Kaida Wheel Co., Ltd. (002863.SZ), a Chinese auto wheel manufacturer, will set up a production base in Thailand, announced the company recently. The production base will be built in the Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone, and is designed to produce 3 million aluminum alloy wheel hubs annually, targeting markets in Europe, America, Oceania and the Middle East. Total investment of the project is 373.14 million yuan (about 53.66 million U.S. dollars), and the construction period of the project is 5 years. After the third phase is completed, the project is expected to see annual sales revenue of about 850 million yuan (about 122.23 million U.S. dollars). The project will be implemented by the company's subsidiary, Vossen Manufacture (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
Malaysia shall pay huge indemnity if Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project fails to restart before May 2020 -- Malaysia will have to bear the large amount of agreed costs by Singapore in fulfilling the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) Bilateral Agreement if Kuala Lumpur fail to proceed the HSR project before May 2020, according to a joint statement by Singapore and Malaysia. Singapore has agreement to suspend the construction of the HSR project for a period up to May 2020, regarding Malaysia's request and in the spirit of bilateral cooperation. The project was designed to build a bridge or underground passage across the Johor strait to connect Singapore and Johor Bahru in Malaysia, which will shorten the travel time to 90 minutes from five hours between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur after the completion.
