Scientists at the technical university RWTH in Aachen unveiled Friday the prototype for an electric-powered lorry which is cheaper to produce and maintain. If put to use by, for example, the German Post, garden landscaping firms or municipalities the 7.5-tonne truck could help to reducing exhaust emissions in cities' air, the university's Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) department said.
Working from the prototype named "LiVe1" the PEM experts are developing an assembly kit system for four types of vehicles which industry could put to use. The technical requirements of the individual modules for the drive technology are provided in the system. The development of electric-powered lorries is making advances, but many elements for their mass production are still not yet ready.
