BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Cooperation among Chinese and foreign enterprises have yielded fruitful results in the past five years driven by the China proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to State Council Information Office on a recent press conference.
China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, for example, has put many efforts in facilitating the transportation and trade development in the countries along the Belt and Road (B&R) route.
China COSCO participates in 55 ports around the world, of which 17 ports, including Greece's Piraeus Port, are in the countries along the B&R route.
The throughput in Piraeus Port has risen significantly to 4.15 million TEUs in 2017 from 0.88 million TEUs in 2010, raising itself to rank 36th in the world.
China Communication Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) now has more than 400 projects under construction in countries along the B&R route. CCCC's overseas projects currently involve total investment scale of 20 billion U.S. dollars, compared with overseas investment scale of less than 500 million yuan before the BRI was initiated, according to Sun Ziyu, vice president of CCCC.
Another Chinese enterprise Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd bought Hungary's BorsodChem for 1.23 billion euros in 2011, and the latter thus turned around and bagged more than 500 million Euros of profit in 2017, according to a senior manager from BorsodChem. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, Niu Huizhe)
