BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 Nantong New Generation Information Technology Expo opened on Thursday in east China's Jiangsu Province, with over 800 representatives from governments, academies and enterprises attending the event.
Addressing at the opening ceremony, deputy secretary of Nantong Municipal Committee of the CPC and acting mayor of Nantong Xu Huimin, said the city will establish a 10 billion yuan fund for development of the new-generation information technology industry and give full support to leading companies in different segments to settle in Nantong.
The new generation information technology, represented by mobile communication, the Internet, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, has become the core driving force for China's economic growth, said Zhou Hu, an official of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Nantong has been actively taking the opportunities brought by the emergence of the new generation information technology since 2017.
At present, a total of 46 related projects have been launched, with a registered capital of 7.63 billion yuan, and another 39 projects are under discussion and preparation, with a total investment of 35.95 billion yuan.
The Expo will hold six special investment promotion activities from November to December, in order to further advance key technology research and development, industrial cultivation and integration application, promote industry transformation and achieve breakthroughs along the industry chain.
