BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Renewable energy such as solar PV power is shifting towards dominant energy, according to experts attending the 2018 China Solar Industry and Economic Development Forum held in Beijing.
Renewable energy investment has taken up more than 70 percent share in recent years' energy investment worldwide, and solar PV power generation, in particular, has become a hotspot, according to Li Junfeng, former director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation.
China's renewable energy installed capacity has been steadily increasing in recent years, reaching 706 million kw as of the end of this September, up 12 percent year on year, according to data by the National Energy Administration (NEA). This included 165 million kw (165GW) PV installed capacity.
PV power installed capacity is targeted to reach 250GW or even 270GW by end of 2020, and solar PV industry development would receive support from administrative departments, according to the NEA. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
