The Phase 1 of Changchun Subway Line 8 has been completed and passed the initial pre-operation safety evaluation, and will start a trial run on October 30, announced Changchun Municipal People's Government at the press conference on the morning of October 29.
This is another subway line opened in Changchun this year following the trial run of Line 2 across the city. So far, Changchun's subway operating kilometrage has reached up to 100.1 kilometers. This welcoming addition to Changchun's rail traffic will expedite the development of Changchun New Area and help Changchun emerge as a regional hub of Northeast Asia.
With a length of 13.3 km, the Phase 1 of Changchun Subway Line 8 runs from north to south covering North Ring Road, Beiyatai Main Street, Longhu Road, Beiyuanda Main Street, Dili Road and Zhongke Avenue as well as Guangtong Road as the terminal station. Laying an overhead track for the entire length, the Line 8 with 12 stations is a light trail route connecting the inner city and the northeast section in Changchun's rail traffic network. Stretching across this city's northeast, the Line 8 links areas with respective strengths in industry, technology, livelihood and ecology together at Beihu Science Park of Changchun New Area, erecting a green channel for the connectivity of Changchun New Area and Changchun's inner city.
Centering on a series of major strategies including the Belt and Road Initiative, New Round of Northeast Revitalization and Changjitu Economic Zone and guided by the spirit of "innovation, integrity and transcendence", Changchun New Area has tirelessly advanced city-industry integration and promoted the coordinated development of urban construction and social cause. As a fast lane from Changchun Beihu Science Park to the inner city, Changchun Subway Line 8 will undergird this park's positioning in the urban function. More importantly, it will also help inherit and carry forward Changchun's public transportation traditions.
