In 2018, the number of pilot live pig farms has increased from three to seven with 33,000 pigs raised annually including 3,000 on hand and 30,000 for sale. In response to the requirements of Changchun Livelihood Action Plan 2018 released by the Livelihood Affairs Office of Changchun, the 2018 "Happy Changchun" Antibiotic-free Breeding Livelihood Project has been officially launched. In the future, Changchun Animal Husbandry Administration Bureau will make constant efforts to expand the demonstration effect of pilot antibiotic-free breeding bases and advance the branding of antibiotic-free products.
Given the industrial layout and structure of local animal husbandry, Changchun government this year will continue to leverage the demonstration effect of pilot antibiotic-free breeding bases with a focus on live pig, broiler chicken and laying hen, and then on other livestock including beef, dairy cattle, mutton sheep and meat rabbit.
According to the Changchun's animal husbandry's structure features and the implementation requirements of the plan, 24 antibiotic-free breeding bases are built across the city with 367,500 head of livestock being raised for sale and 8,081.4 tons of antibiotic-free products being produced in 2018. Significantly, the number of pilot farms for live pig increased to seven, broiler chicken five, and beef three. In addition, one pilot farm for dairy cattle, mutton sheep, sika deer and meat rabbit was newly built, respectively.
