BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The State Council, China's cabinet, has approved a national pilot zone for open development of agriculture in Weifang City, east China's Shandong Province, representing the first one in the country, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Tuesday.
The pilot zone will promote international cooperation in the agricultural technologies, said the ministry.
The pilot zone will become a high-end platform for R&D of agricultural science and technology, integrated innovation and achievement transformation, and make efforts to develop industries such as high-end agriculture and modern food industries, agricultural high-tech industries, as well as international trade in agricultural products, modern logistics, cross-border e-commerce, said Tian Qingying, mayor of Weifang City.
Meanwhile, the pilot zone will build itself into a demonstration base for cooperation with advanced agricultural countries in technologies, and strive to build an agricultural and food industry innovation center, a logistics distribution center, an inspection and testing center, and agricultural and food industry big data center, said Tian.
