BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Supply and demand in China’s coal market remains balanced recently with northern China regions just starting heating supply while main power plants holding adequate inventory.
Ordos blended coal price index closed at 360 points as of October 19, unchanged from last week. Meanwhile, pit prices for five out of six coal specifications were found unchanged from previous week with only 5,500 kcal coal reporting an increase of 2 yuan/tonne during current reporting period.
However, coal price is likely to pick up with demand rising upon cold weather, experts say. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
