China's Chongqing to develop hundred-billion-yuan plastic optical fiber industry

Abstract : Southwest China's Chongqing plans to build a massive plastic optical fiber industry, of which the output value is predicted to be around RMB100 billion.

BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality plans to build a massive plastic optical fiber industry, of which the output value is predicted to be around RMB100 billion, according to a report of Chongqing Daily.

Plastic optical fibers with better signal transmission and stronger antijamming capability is expected to gradually replace copper wires and improve Internet surfing speed for Chongqing net users in the future.

At present, Chongqing Plastic Optical Fiber Materials Industrial Park, established by Chongqing COPTICOMM Technology Industry Co., Ltd. in Changshou District, has built a production line of plastic optical fiber material for telecommunication and optical fiber and cable. After realizing mass production, its output value will expectedly reach hundred billion yuan, paving the way for the development of big data.

"This year, 'Chongqing made' plastic optical fiber products have been exhibited at the first Smart China Expo, and received positive feedback from the industry, " said Fang Sheng, deputy general manager of COPTICOMM Technology.
