BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangdong Province saw its trade volume with Belt and Road countries hit a record high of 153.14 billion yuan (22.1 billion U.S. dollars) in September, according to statistics released by Guangdong Customs.
The province's trade with B&R countries in the first three quarters totaled 1.2 trillion yuan (170 billion U.S. dollars), up 7 percent year on year. During the time period, general trade was 679.73 billion yuan and accounted for 58.4 percent of the total trade volume, while processing trade accounted for 24.4 percent of the total and grew 24.4 percent year on year to 287.24 billion yuan.
In the first three quarters, Guangdong's trade with ASEAN countries was 680.85 billion yuan, up 11 percent, representing 58.5 percent of the total with B&R countries. The trade with India reached 116.76 billion yuan, up 6.8 percent, and that with Russia mounted to 42.77 billion yuan, up 19.6 percent, both showing an upward trend.
Mechanical and electrical products accounted for 68.3 percent of exports in the same period, with 481.36 billion yuan. Among them, the export of mobile phones increased substantially, up by 50.5 percent year on year.
Imports of mechanical and electrical products have also grown, increasing 35.2 percent year on year to 280.2 billion yuan, accounting for 61 percent of the total import value with B&R countries. (Edited by Li Wenxin, Yang Qi, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
