Dada-JD Daojia, Carrefour to collaborate online -- Chinese online grocery and delivery company Dada-JD Daojia recently announced a formal collaboration with French hypermarket chain Carrefour SA, with a plan to have approximately 200 Carrefour stores having presences on JD Daojia by the end of this year. There are 158 Carrefour stores in 31 major cities across the nation that have joined JD Daojia by the end of last month. Tencent to hold 8th global partner conference in November -- Chinese tech giant Tencent will hold its eighth global partner conference in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing in November, the company's first large-scale event after it announced a landmark strategic organizational upgrade last month. The three-day long event, lasting from November 1 to 3, will mainly discuss openness and inter-growth, featuring 20 summit topics ranging from smart transport to artificial intelligence (AI), according to a statement from Tencent.
Tesla purchases land for plant in Shanghai -- U.S. carmaker Tesla Inc. has just purchased a tract of land measuring 864,885 square meters from Shanghai municipal government, to set up its first overseas plant in the city, said a source of Shanghai Lingang Area Development Administration on October 17. The price tag of the deal is kept unknown. The website of Shanghai Land Market, however, shows the original starting price of the land for sale was 973 million yuan (about 141 million U.S. dollars).
China Southern Airlines launches direct flight from Shenyang to LA -- China Southern Airlines will open a new flight connecting Shenyang city of southeastern Liaoning province to Los Angeles of the United States starting December 18, the company announced on October 16. ,It will be the first direct international flight of the carrier from the northeastern provinces to not only the US, but also the world, according to the airline. CGN sets up 3rd offshore wind farm -- Construction of the country's largest single offshore wind project, located off Nanpeng Island in Yangjiang, Guangdong province, kicked off on October 15.
With a total installed capacity of 400 megawatts, the project is scheduled to connected to the grid and start generating power by 2020, with a yearly generation capacity of 1.47 billion kilowatt hours, according to CGN New Energy Holdings Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Corp. Volkswagen delivers 3 mln vehicles in China in Jan.-Sept. -- Volkswagen Group China registered strong sales in the Chinese market in the first nine months of the year, the company announced on October 15. The company, along with its two joint ventures in China -- SAIC Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen -- delivered a total of 3.04 million automobiles to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong between January and September, up 50 percent year on year.
New insurance sub-brand 360 Health debuts -- Sino-US United MetLife Insurance Co Ltd unveiled a new sub-brand called 360 Health on October 13 in a bid to cater to end-to-end health solutions for Chinese customers. Yoho! raises USD10mln to integrate online, offline channels -- Yoho!, which is one of the largest streetwear fashion group in the Chinese mainland, announced its E series financing on October 12, with the Nanjing, Jiangsu province-headquartered group looking to combine its online and offline distribution channels, and explore other business models. The financing, amounting to over 10 million U.S. dollars, is being lead by global venture capital fund C Ventures.
