BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Investment for energy interconnection construction in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia is likely to reach 2.7 trillion U.S. dollars and 2.1 trillion U.S. dollars in future, respectively, according to Liu Zhenya, Chairman with Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) and Chairman with China Electricity Council.
Speaking at the Forum on Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia Energy Interconnection Development held on Tuesday in Beijing, Liu noted that energy interconnection construction could effectively drive energy infrastructure as well as upstream and downstream industry development, reported Shanghai Securities News.
Energy interconnection construction could secure power supply, accelerate green transformation, boost economic growth, as well as advance integrated development in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, according to Liu.
