BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) announced Wednesday that its Delingha 50MW solar thermal demonstration project, the country’s first large scale commercial solar thermal demonstrative power station, has gone into operation.
Located in Delingha of northwest China’s Qinghai province, the solar thermal power station boasts power generation capacity of 200 million kwh annually and could save 60,000 tonnes of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tonnes every year, according to Wang Zhigang, general manager with CGN new energy Delingha subsidiary.
This is the first solar thermal power station in operation among the first batch of 20 solar thermal demonstration projects approved by the National Energy Administration, and also the first power station in China's power industry to receive low-interest loans from the Asian Development Bank.
