BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Energy Minister Novak lately announced that Russia and China had basically agreed on all technical conditions of gas transmission via the Russia-China west-route natural gas pipeline, according to a report sourced from RIA Novostion on yidaiyilu.gov.cn, the Belt and Road Portal of China.
The pipeline to be built is expected to transmit 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually to China, said the report.
It is reported that the Russian gas company Gazprom has contracted to transmit 38 billion cubic meters of gas every year to China via the Russia-China east-route natural gas pipeline.
China saw fast growing gas demand on economic development. In 2017, China's natural gas demand reached 237 billion cubic meters, an increase of 15 percent over the previous year. In the first half of 2018, this figure increased by 17 percent year on year.
Experts predict that by 2030, China's natural gas demand will double again, reaching 480 billion cubic meters, said the report. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
